Requirements for candidates<\/h4>\n

The purpose of the program is to encourage enterprising entrepreneurs from other countries, who will create new jobs and contribute to the development of the Canadian economy.<\/p>\n

To apply for a business visa to Canada, an applicant must:<\/p>\n

  • Have a minimum level of English or French;<\/li>\n
  • Have enough funds to settle in Canada;<\/li>\n
  • Plan to live in any province (except the province of Quebec);<\/li>\n
  • Confirm the absence of a criminal record and pass a medical examination;<\/li>\n
  • Confirm that the business has support from the designated organization;<\/li>\n
  • Show that the business meets the ownership requirements.<\/li>\n
  • No more than 5 representatives of other countries from the same field of business can apply for the status of a permanent resident under the Business Program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Investment information<\/h4>\n

    Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has identified a number of venture capital funds, private investment groups, startups and business incubators to participate in the Business Visa Program.<\/p>\n

    Applicants must have certain minimum investments to start a business in Canada. If the capital investment comes from the Canada Capital Fund designated for this purpose, it must be at least $200,000. If the investment in the business comes from a group of private investors for start-up projects, the amount must be at least $75,000.<\/p>\n

    The applicant does not need to guarantee the security of the investment for the business incubator. However, applicants must be accepted into the Canadian Business Incubator program.<\/p>\n

    Applicants are not required to invest their own funds. If their business does not succeed in Canada, they will still retain the permanent resident status they received through this program.<\/p>\n

    Certificate of commitment<\/h4>\n

    To demonstrate that an applicant has received support from a venture capital fund, an investor group or investor organization must submit a completed commitment certificate directly to IRCC. This document contains information about the agreement between the applicant and the investment organization. In addition, the applicant will receive a letter of support from the investor institution, which must be submitted with the application for permanent residence.<\/p>\n

    Expert evaluation<\/h4>\n

    To protect this program from fraud, a peer review process has been organized. He must ensure the legality of the agreement between the investment organization and the foreign businessman. Immigration officials may request an independent review by an expert committee.<\/p>\n

    Peer review verifies the level of trust achieved by the designated organization:<\/p>\n

      As this is a pilot program, it will process a maximum of 2,750 applications per year. In addition, the duration of the program is limited to five years.
