On November 15, the provincial government announced the launch of a new pilot project that will run for the next three years, and it is expected that employers in western and central Manitoba will be able to attract workers and offer them a simplified path to <a href=\"\/?p=464\">permanent residency in Canada<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is called the West-Central Immigration Initiative. The new immigration program is designed to work with municipalities that are in dire need of filling the shortage of workers in their local labor markets. The following communities will participate in the pilot project, according to the official website of the provincial government: Russell-Binscarth Municipality, Yellowhead Rural Municipality, Roblin Municipality, Ellice-Archie Rural Municipality, Riding Mountain West Rural Municipality, Rossburn Municipality, Prairie View Municipality, and Gambler First Nation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to a survey of local employers, over the next three years they will need to hire between 240 and 300 employees to ensure the sustainable development of their businesses. Manitoba Minister of Labour and Immigration Malaya Marcelino emphasized that the project is aimed at helping communities and their economies grow and prosper.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among applicants for permanent resident status in Canada who apply under the provincial immigration program in Manitoba, there is a convincing increase in interest for settling in agricultural areas. In 2023, this number was 25%, compared to 16.2% in 2012.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canada is well known as a country that actively attracts talent from around the world to its economy. One of the most famous pilot projects, which is now a program, is the Atlantic Immigration Pilot. This program has managed to attract thousands of workers to the Eastern Canadian provinces. Similar local projects to attract permanent residents to the communities of Winkler-Stanley, Morden and Parkland Region have become examples for the new immigration pathwayin Manitoba.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similar to any other permanent resident program in Canada, the new West-Central Immigration Initiative will have a list of additional characteristics for an applicant to be able to apply for immigration. Further news is expected from the provincial government regarding the criteria that applicants must meet. Among others:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A valid job offer from the employer within the project<\/li>\n<li>Proven level of English language proficiency<\/li>\n<li>Relevant work experience<\/li>\n<li>Sufficient number of hours worked<\/li>\n<li>Appropriate level of education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The West-Central Immigration Initiative has expanded the number of ways to become a permanent resident of Canada in Manitoba.
